1981.

This is the direct sequel to the Sinclair ZX80. You can directly see that it is a Sinclair machine. Small and easy, and membrane keys by up to five features per key. And it had an even lower price than its predecessor, and it was possible to buy even cheaper, if you wanted to mount your own kit. The two models ZX80 and ZX81 with their low prices, contributed significantly to bring off on home computer industry, as at that time was still in its infancy.

There were quite a lot of accessories to this machine. For example, extra keyboard, RAM, disk drive and graphics cards. In addition, there were added a lot of new features in a number of keys compared to what Sinclair ZX80 had. If you wanted, you could make Sinclair ZX81 to a well equipped computer.
